Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu blames the opposition and previous governments for creating hunger and poverty, while defending his economic record. He is asking voters to renew his mandate in the January 2027 presidential election, according to Nigerian daily Daily Trust.
In Kaduna, Nigerian President Bola Tinubu accused political opposition parties and previous administrations of being responsible for hunger and poverty, and called on voters to renew his mandate in the January 2027 presidential election. He was speaking on Saturday at the launch of his party’s presidential campaign, the All Progressives Congress (APC), according to Daily Trust.
Tinubu said his government was working to correct years of economic mismanagement and consolidate the recovery. He defended the removal of the fuel subsidy, presented as necessary to tackle corruption, invoice falsification and smuggling. He also promised to continue programmes aimed at young people.
Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani called on residents to support the president’s re-election. He cited federal interventions in infrastructure, education, health, agriculture and security. Tinubu, for his part, thanked Kaduna residents for their support in the 2023 election and asked them to vote for him and the other APC candidates.
The APC’s Kaduna campaign launch had already been reported on 24 October. Tinubu has now defended his economic record and sought a new mandate, while opposition officials are challenging his management of the cost of living.
