Senegalese artist Boubou held a live painting session on Saturday 7 November with pupils from Amadou Diagne Wore primary school in Dakar as part of the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games, reports Seneweb. The pupils took part in the artwork by placing their handprints on a long canvas bearing the message “THESE HANDS WILL CHANGE THE WORLD”, before the painter incorporated the prints into his creation.
Boubou, known for creating upside-down portraits and using everyday objects as painting tools, has 3.6 million followers on Instagram and 1.8 million on TikTok. His portrait of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson made with a dumbbell in 2019 was shared by the American actor, according to Seneweb. The initiative was led by ONE Academy, ONE Campaign’s free platform dedicated to developing African young people’s advocacy and leadership skills.
The artist explained that he wanted to show children that their ideas can help change their environment. ONE Campaign’s executive director for Africa, Serah Makka, also described the activity as a way of raising young people’s awareness of their ability to take action in their communities, according to Seneweb.
