The event also offered six training sessions totalling 30 hours of capacity-building, according to Elba Lima, a representative of the festival management, cited by Expresso das Ilhas.

The 32nd edition of Mindelact, the Mindelo theatre festival, drew about 3,500 spectators, 100 artists and 32 shows, and offered six training sessions totalling 30 hours of capacity-building, Elba Lima, a representative of the festival management, announced in the closing speech.

Held under the theme “Raiz”, the edition was marked by constraints related to the conditions of some of the venues used. “The conditions of some venues forced us to improvise, seek solutions and overcome obstacles,” Elba Lima said, thanking in particular the Ministry of Culture for securing funding for the event and the air conditioning of the auditorium at the Mindelo Cultural Centre, completed on 4 November.

The programme took place across three islands, eight stages and 14 spaces, with more than 60% of activities free, according to figures presented by the management. The edition also offered programming accessible to deaf, neurodivergent and mobility-impaired people, a first in Cape Verde.
