Arla Foods Nigeria will provide fresh yoghurt several times a week to schools in Kaduna State under a programme with the Milk Value Chain Foundation. The initiative aims to support children’s nutrition and demand for local milk, while a cow at Damau farm produced 57 litres in one day, Business Day Nigeria reports.

Arla Foods Nigeria will provide freshly produced yoghurt several times a week to schools in Kaduna State as part of a programme conducted with the Milk Value Chain Foundation. The initiative, announced at Arla’s Damau farm, will initially involve a limited number of schools and link local milk production to school nutrition objectives, Business Day Nigeria reports.

The farm showcased the gains made possible by modern dairy farming during the Arla-Dano Damau 2026 open day. A Friesian Holstein cow produced 57 litres of milk there in one day, compared with one to two litres a day for a typical Fulani cow. The site has more than 450 cattle of this breed and relies on genetics, feed, veterinary care and livestock management to increase yields.

Elele Ogunsanya, Arla Foods Nigeria’s head of corporate affairs and communications, said the group also wanted to strengthen farmers’ skills and local production. The Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Mukhtar Maiha, said the growth of the sector could increase farmers’ incomes, improve access to nutritious food and create jobs. Kaduna State Commissioner Murtala Dabo said the authorities would support these investments through policy stability, security cooperation and infrastructure.
