Angola’s Sovereign Fund has acquired a stake in Bureau, the country’s first licensed private credit information bureau. The participation is intended to support the expansion of its services among financial institutions and improve access to credit by reducing defaults and information asymmetry, Folha 8 reports.

The Sovereign Fund of Angola (FSDEA) has acquired a stake in Bureau, the country’s first licensed private credit information bureau. The participation is intended to allow the company to expand its activities among financial institutions, according to a Bureau statement carried by Jornal F8.

The subscription agreement between the two institutions was signed on 4 June. The FSDEA is expected to appoint a director to Bureau’s board, which, according to the statement, will strengthen the company’s governance.

Bureau collects and analyses information on the financial behaviour and consumption habits of individuals and companies to inform credit decisions. Its data can also be used by telecoms operators, insurers and investors.
