Air Algérie could restore direct flights between Algiers and Moscow at the beginning of 2027, after several months of interruption. The resumption still depends on formalities, including the presence of representatives of the Algerian airline in Russia, Russian ambassador Alexei Solomatin told RIA Novosti.

Direct flights between Algiers and Moscow could resume at the beginning of 2027, after several months of interruption. Alexei Solomatin, Russia’s ambassador to Algeria, announced the timeframe on 26 October in an interview with the RIA Novosti news agency, Observ'Algérie reports.

The resumption still depends on organisational formalities, particularly formalising the presence of representatives of Air Algérie, Algeria’s state-owned airline, in Moscow. Russian authorities have promised to help complete these steps, but Air Algérie has not yet published a commercial timetable or confirmed the date of the first flight.

A direct route would reduce the journey time to about five hours, compared with 10 to 12 hours for itineraries with a stopover, according to the Russian ambassador. The route is particularly awaited by Algerian students enrolled at Russian universities, as well as families, tourists and business travellers. Before its suspension, Air Algérie was authorised to operate three flights a week.
