Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma says Nigeria remains a work in progress despite Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms, including the removal of fuel subsidies and the liberalisation of the naira. He calls for further progress on food security, electricity, human capital and the electoral process, the Daily Post reports.
The governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, said on Sunday that Nigeria remained “a work in progress” despite the economic reforms undertaken by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He cited food security, human capital development and the electoral process among the areas where progress was still needed, according to the Daily Post.
Uzodimma, who chairs the Progressive Governors’ Forum, nevertheless attributed an improvement in economic stability, foreign exchange reserves and infrastructure to Tinubu’s reforms, notably the removal of the fuel subsidy and the liberalisation of the naira. He also mentioned persistent difficulties with electricity, poverty, literacy, life expectancy and national cohesion.
The governor was speaking in Abuja at the third Raymond Dokpesi conference, devoted to the media, democracy and national development. His remarks came after several public criticisms of the president’s reforms, including Bola Tinubu’s call for a second term. Tinubu blames opposition for difficulties and calls for a second term
