Bayern Munich host Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga on Saturday, with the two teams level on points after seven matchdays and still unbeaten. The match follows a week marked by coach Vincent Kompany’s hospitalisation and Joshua Kimmich’s absence, reports Citizen Digital.
Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, the only two unbeaten teams after seven Bundesliga matchdays, will face each other in Munich on Saturday. The two clubs have the same number of points, but reigning German champions Bayern lead Dortmund on goal difference, according to Citizen Digital. Dortmund coach Niko Kovac said on Thursday that his team was closing the gap on their opponents.
Bayern will go into the match after a week marked by the hospitalisation of their coach Vincent Kompany and their striker Harry Kane winning the Ballon d’Or. Kompany, who suffered meningeal irritation, left hospital on Wednesday, but the club expects him to return in several weeks rather than a few days, according to Citizen Digital. His assistant Aaron Danks is managing the team in his absence.
Bayern must also cope with several absences. Germany captain Joshua Kimmich missed three matches after the sudden death of his father, while Luis Díaz, Manuel Neuer, Jamal Musiala and Aleksandar Pavlovic have been affected by injuries. Harry Kane became the first Englishman since Michael Owen, in 2001, and the fifth English player to win the Ballon d’Or on Monday, according to Citizen Digital.
