Suspended Ugandan health workers allegedly admitted transporting medicines stolen from public facilities to the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The National Drug Authority and security services are investigating whether they reached ADF camps, according to the Daily Monitor.
Medicines stolen from Ugandan public health facilities are alleged to have been taken to camps of the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), an armed group active in eastern DR Congo, according to Ugandan newspaper the Daily Monitor. The National Drug Authority (NDA) and security officials are investigating their possible circulation in the DRC and South Sudan.
Luweero District Resident Commissioner Miriam Nalubega Sseguya and NDA spokesperson Abiaz Rwamiri said health workers suspended over medicine theft had admitted transporting the drugs to Congo. These statements concern suspicions that the ADF was supplied, but do not establish that the medicines actually reached the group’s camps.
