Nigeria captain Chidera Harmony Chidi and Japan captain Honoka Yotsumoto posed with the trophy before the U17 World Cup final scheduled for 7 November. Nigeria will face Japan in Rabat after beating Brazil 3-1, according to Leadership.

The FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup final between Nigeria and Japan is scheduled for Saturday 7 November at 18:30 local time at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Rabat, according to Leadership. The two captains, Chidera Harmony Chidi for Nigeria and Honoka Yotsumoto for Japan, took part in a photo session organised before the final with the tournament trophy.

Nigeria qualified by beating Brazil 3-1 in the semi-final, after previously reaching the semi-finals in 2022. The Flamingos are thus the first African team to reach the final of this U17 Women’s World Cup. Japan, a two-time finalist before this edition, eliminated defending champions North Korea on penalties after a 1-1 draw.

Japan won the tournament in 2014 and finished runners-up in 2010 and 2016. A Nigerian victory would make the country the first African representative to win the title. North Korea and Brazil will play the third-place match earlier on Saturday at 15:00, according to Leadership.
