A high-level Qatari delegation has arrived in Tehran for talks with Iranian officials on bilateral relations and the regional situation. The visit comes as Doha takes part in mediation efforts between Iran and the United States, Caasimada reports, citing Iran’s IRNA news agency and Reuters.

A high-level Qatari delegation arrived in Tehran on Friday 30 October to meet Iranian officials and discuss bilateral relations and the regional situation, Iran’s IRNA news agency reported, as quoted by Caasimada Online. It is led by an adviser to Qatar’s prime minister and minister of foreign affairs.

The visit comes as Doha takes part in mediation efforts between Iran and the United States. Reuters had reported that Qatari mediators were travelling to Tehran with Washington’s support to help broker an agreement between the two countries. The United States wants Iran’s nuclear programme included in initial talks, while Tehran is first calling for the blockade of its ports to end and sanctions on its oil exports to be lifted.

Iran says it remains in close contact with mediators to find a way to implement its seven-day plan to end the war. On 28 October, Qatar had proposed a seven-day peace deal to Tehran.
