The Israeli military operation continues in two neighbourhoods of Hebron, sealed off after an attack that killed two Israeli soldiers. Around 5,000 residents have been forcibly displaced and remain homeless, according to the Hebron municipality.
The two neighbourhoods in Hebron from which the perpetrators of an attack that killed two Israeli soldiers are said to have come remain sealed off by the Israeli army in the occupied West Bank. Some 5,000 residents have been forcibly displaced and remain homeless, according to the Hebron municipality.
The Israeli army has told residents that the closure will continue until the homes of the two attackers, who were killed after the attack, are destroyed. Residents have denounced the measure as collective punishment, while B’Tselem, an Israeli human rights organisation, has warned of a possible campaign of ethnic cleansing and the expansion of forced displacement and destruction in the occupied West Bank, according to RFI.
The situation follows protests against military demolitions in Hebron, reported on 27 October in Palestinians protest against demolitions.
