Officer struck twice by car promoted in Agadir

Abdellatif Hammouchi, Morocco’s director-general of national security, has exceptionally promoted a police officer seriously injured after being struck twice by a vehicle in Agadir. The driver and two passengers have been arrested, while police services are covering the officer’s treatment, according to a statement from the Moroccan police.

Abdellatif Hammouchi, director-general of Morocco’s National Security and Territorial Surveillance, promoted a police motorcyclist injured on duty in Agadir on Thursday 29 October. The chief brigadier has become a security officer, according to a statement from the Moroccan police.

The officer was struck twice by a car after intercepting it on Mohammed V Avenue. The driver had earlier ignored an order to stop at a checkpoint at the northern entrance to the city. Police arrested the driver and two passengers, according to the statement.

The promotion recognises the officer’s professionalism and dedication, police said. Hammouchi also asked the national security force’s medical and social services to cover his treatment and hospitalisation costs and provide him with material and moral support.
