Madagascar is extending to travellers arriving from Kenya and Nigeria the quarantine measures already applied to passengers arriving from the Democratic Republic of Congo, in order to prevent the introduction of the Ebola virus. The Ministry of Public Health is also strengthening health surveillance, Midi Madagasikara reports.
No suspected or confirmed case of Ebola has been recorded in Madagascar. The authorities are nevertheless maintaining a heightened level of vigilance in view of the risks linked to international travel, according to the Ministry of Public Health.
The extension comes after tighter checks on travellers arriving from Kenya, announced on 26 October, followed by the imposition of 21 days of quarantine on travellers from Kenya, published on 31 October.
