A French court has ordered the return to Congo of President Denis Sassou-N’Guesso’s Falcon 7X, seized in 2020 at the initiative of Lebanese businessman Mohsen Hojeij in the dispute between Brazzaville and Commisimpex, according to Africa Intelligence. The creditor is seeking 2.2 billion euros from the Congolese state.

The proceedings had notably involved an auction of the aircraft, challenged by the Congolese government. In October 2023, Thierry Moungalla, then government spokesman, told RFI that the aircraft, reserved for the president’s use and bearing the emblems of Congo, should benefit from the immunity attached to property covered by state sovereignty.
