The Ghanaian government has shortened the curfew imposed on Hamile and nearby communities in the Lambussie District, from 10pm to 4am instead of 6pm to 5am. The measure, effective on 5 November, maintains the weapons ban and aims to prevent further violence, according to authorities.

Ghana shortened the curfew hours imposed on Hamile and nearby communities in the Lambussie District on Thursday, to 10pm to 4am. The measure, revised by the Interior Minister on the recommendation of the National Security Council, takes effect on 5 November 2026, according to a government statement cited by MyJoyOnline.

The curfew was previously set from 6pm to 5am. The government urged traditional leaders, community leaders, young people and residents to show restraint and use peaceful means to express their grievances. The total ban on possessing weapons, ammunition or any other offensive object remains in force in Hamile and the surrounding communities; offenders face arrest and prosecution.

The revision comes after the imposition of the curfew in Hamile, announced on 3 November following a fatal explosion.
