Brazil’s federal police cancelled Flávio Bolsonaro’s passports after the deadline set by the Supreme Court for him to surrender them expired. Authorities are searching for the former presidential candidate, whose aides do not know his whereabouts and whose entry into Argentina has been denied by the country, according to TimesLIVE.

Brazil’s federal police cancelled Senator Flávio Bolsonaro’s passports on Tuesday after he failed to surrender his documents within the deadline set by the Supreme Court, according to two police sources cited by TimesLIVE. Authorities are trying to locate the senator, who is the subject of a money-laundering investigation in which he denies any wrongdoing.

Argentina said it had no record of his entering its territory. Argentine authorities also checked a private aircraft reported at Iguazú International Airport, on the border between the two countries, but found no flight plan mentioning the Bolsonaro family. A senior Brazilian federal police official said Flávio Bolsonaro had not left the country through an official immigration checkpoint.

The measure came after the Supreme Court ordered him on Monday to surrender his passports within 24 hours. Police had seized them on 27 October, while the senator was challenging the result of the presidential election won by Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. Flávio Bolsonaro may have left Brazil for the United States, according to an article published on 27 October.
