A 33-year-old man is being held in Añisok, Equatorial Guinea, over an alleged attempted sexual assault on his sister-in-law, whom he is said to have driven towards a highway. He denies the allegations, while the gendarmerie points to a possible link with other similar cases, Ahora EG reports.

A 33-year-old man, Francisco Pascual, remains in detention in Añisok, Equatorial Guinea, over an alleged attempted sexual assault against Virginia Ntongono, his elder brother’s wife, Ahora EG reports. The case is to be referred to the competent judicial authorities.

During questioning by the Añisok Judicial Brigade, Francisco Pascual denied the allegations, while acknowledging that he had a poor relationship with his brother. Virginia Ntongono, 43, says he invited her to have a beer before driving her towards the national highway, after closing the windows and turning up the music.

The complainant says she screamed and tried to open the doors while the vehicle was moving after realising her brother-in-law’s intentions. She says the assault was not ultimately carried out, but that his intention to act without her consent caused her harm. The Añisok Gendarmerie says the detainee may be linked to other similar cases, according to Ahora EG.
