Michael Carrick says he wants to remain Manchester United manager after the 2-0 defeat by Chelsea in the Premier League, which extended the club’s winless run to nine matches. He hopes to lead the team against Roma in the Champions League on Tuesday, Citizen Digital reports.
Michael Carrick said he expected to remain Manchester United manager for Tuesday’s Champions League home match against Roma, after the 2-0 defeat by Chelsea in the Premier League, Citizen Digital reports. The 31 October loss extended the English club’s winless run to nine matches, its longest in 38 years.
Manchester United are only one point above the relegation zone in the league and sit 20th in the 36-team Champions League table. Two defeats in their first three European matches have left them struggling in the race for the knockout stages.
The defeat by Chelsea had already put Carrick under pressure, after Manchester United suffered a third consecutive loss. However, the club had kept the former England midfielder in his post after their home defeat by Bournemouth the previous weekend. Chelsea beat Manchester United 2-0 in the Premier League.
