A delegation from the French Development Agency, led by Shan Yunfei, spent a week in the Republic of the Congo examining electrical infrastructure projects and service quality. The agency, whose energy projects have improved access to energy for 9.3 million people in Africa, presented its priorities at a conference in Brazzaville, according to Lasemaineafricaine.

The French Development Agency (AFD) spent a week evaluating its projects to improve electrical infrastructure and service quality in the Republic of the Congo. The delegation, led by Shan Yunfei, head of the energy project team for Africa, presented the agency’s priorities at a press conference in Brazzaville on 16 October, reports Lasemaineafricaine.

The priority investment programme of Énergie électrique du Congo (E2C), the national electricity company, includes rehabilitating the 110 kV line between Mindouli and Moukoukoulou, as well as associated substations. The AFD is financing the project with a €46 million loan, supplemented by €3 million earmarked under the Debt Reduction and Development Contract (C2D).

The agency is also supporting a study on the management of distribution networks in Brazzaville and Pointe-Noire, aimed at helping to improve electricity services. Across Africa, its projects in the energy sector are helping to improve access to electricity for 9.3 million people, Shan Yunfei said.
