The Confederation of African Football has provisionally authorised 24 September National Stadium to host Guinea-Bissau’s next match against Madagascar in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. The category 3 approval is valid until 30 November and depends on security measures, according to the Guinea-Bissau Football Federation.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has granted temporary and conditional category 3 approval to the 24 September National Stadium in Bissau until 30 November 2026. Guinea-Bissau’s men’s national team will therefore be able to host Madagascar there in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, according to a statement from the Guinea-Bissau Football Federation published on 28 October.

The decision follows an inspection conducted by CAF in October, which noted improvements, particularly in the condition of the pitch. The approval nevertheless remains subject to the implementation of security measures concerning the separation of spectator flows, access control, evacuation and emergency response, reports the Guinea-Bissau Football Federation.

CAF will appoint a security officer to monitor compliance with these requirements before and during the match. Definitive category 3 approval will depend on the officer’s assessment and the presentation of documents attesting to the completion of corrective work, the federation said.

The Guinea-Bissau Football Federation welcomed the government’s support for restoring the stadium and pledged to continue the work with the authorities. It called on supporters to co-operate with security services and follow the rules, according to its statement.
