The Russian army struck the port of Vilkovo in Ukraine’s Odessa region, a railcar depot in Poltava region and a cargo vessel in the Black Sea, the Russian Defence Ministry said on Telegram. Moscow claims that these sites were being used for military purposes.

Ukraine is negotiating with Poland and Slovakia, two European Union member states, to move customs checks for lorries carrying grain from the border to locations inside those countries. The measure aims to reduce Russian drone attacks on heavy goods vehicles, the Financial Times reports, citing people familiar with the discussions. Kyiv has also established joint checkpoints with Moldova and wants to extend the arrangement to other neighbours, Foreign Ministry spokesman Heorhii Tykhyi said.
The strike came as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called on allies to maintain pressure on Russia on 23 October, as part of diplomatic efforts related to the war in Ukraine. The request is reported in [Zelensky’s appeal to allies]( /news/zelensky-demande-aux-allies-de-maintenir-la-pression-sur-la-russie).
