The two youth branches of the Social Renewal Party have proclaimed their reunification and created a joint commission in Bissau. The body is to prepare a roadmap for a unified and inclusive congress, while ending public attacks between the two camps, according to O Democrata.
The two factions of the Youth of the Social Renewal Party (JRS), the PRS youth organisation in Guinea-Bissau, announced on Friday 23 October 2026 that they had ended their internal division and created a single structure, O Democrata reports. Representatives linked to Franco Ialá and Ednilson Alberto Nambeia pledged to work towards reunifying the party.
The young people created a joint Youth Commission tasked with preparing a consensual roadmap for a joint, unified and inclusive congress. They also promised to end attacks and insults on social media, radio stations and other public spaces, and not to take part in any separate congress.
The JRS is now calling on the two wings of the PRS senior leadership to engage in dialogue to allow the congress to take place. It says it wants to defend unity, forgiveness and the primacy of the collective interest over personal or group interests, according to O Democrata.
