The bus driver and another witness identified five men on trial for abducting 20 prospective members of the national youth service in Imo State. Their testimonies were presented on Friday before the State High Court as the trial resumed, ThisDay reports.
The driver of the bus carrying 20 candidates for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Nigeria’s national service programme for young graduates, identified five suspects on trial for their abduction in Imo State. Another witness, Light Timothy, said he saw two of them carrying AK-47 rifles shortly after the attack, at the Imo State High Court on Friday, ThisDay reports.
The driver identified the first defendant as the man who approached the bus with a weapon and then led the 20 passengers towards a nearby forest. Timothy also identified the first and second defendants during an identification session organised by the Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria’s domestic intelligence service. Their testimonies and the driver’s identity document were admitted as evidence by Judge Emeka Orafu, who adjourned the hearing to 3, 4, 5 and 6 November 2026.
