Benjamin Netanyahu is considering an operation in the West Bank ahead of Israel’s parliamentary elections, amid renewed violence. Journalist Ben-Dror Yemini believes a military escalation would not improve the prime minister’s political prospects, according to France 24.

Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel’s prime minister, is considering a military operation in the West Bank before the parliamentary elections, amid renewed violence. Ben-Dror Yemini, a journalist with the Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronoth, says the military escalation has limits and examines its effects on the leader’s political prospects in an analysis broadcast by France 24.

Since the attacks carried out by Hamas on 7 October 2023, Netanyahu has lost popularity, according to Yemini, who sees the attacks as a turning point in Israeli public opinion. The prime minister has already promised a major operation in the West Bank and more settlements, according to an announcement reported on 23 October.
