Five Israelis were wounded by gunfire near Hebron in the West Bank, two of them critically, according to Israeli emergency services. Israeli forces killed the two Palestinian assailants after an exchange of fire lasting more than 20 minutes, then sealed off several nearby towns, according to the Israeli military.

Five Israelis were wounded by gunfire at the Judea Junction on Route 35, near Hebron in the southern West Bank, on Friday 23 October 2026. Two were in a critical condition and the other three sustained light to moderate injuries, according to Israeli emergency services.

The Israeli military said its soldiers had returned fire and killed the two Palestinian assailants at the scene. The exchange of fire reportedly lasted more than 20 minutes, delaying the evacuation of the wounded while paramedics and soldiers remained exposed to gunfire.

Israeli forces then closed several Palestinian towns in the area, including Hebron, as security operations continued. The assailants were armed with an M16 assault rifle and a pistol, according to the Israeli military.
