The Onyaanya health centre in the Oshikoto region is to receive a N$60.8 million upgrade, with work scheduled to take 18 months. The project includes a new centre, a renovated mortuary and water facilities, according to the Central Procurement Board of Namibia.

Namibia plans to spend N$60.8 million to renovate and expand the Onyaanya health centre in the Oshikoto region, with work scheduled to take 18 months. The Central Procurement Board of Namibia (CPBN) facilitated the signing on Friday of a N$60 million contract awarded to Landmark Projects (Pty) Ltd JV Transact Investment CC, according to a CPBN statement.

The project includes renovating existing buildings, constructing a new health centre, upgrading the mortuary and building a water tower, kitchen, laundry and incinerator. CPBN board chairperson Mary Shiimi called on the company to prioritise employing residents of surrounding communities, particularly for unskilled positions.

Health executive director Penda Ithindi said the investment should help improve healthcare and the well-being of communities. He called on the ministry and the companies carrying out the work to cooperate closely to ensure its completion.
