Kenya’s Directorate of Criminal Investigations arrested police inspector Kenneth Kipkemboi Sang in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County. He is suspected of coordinating the murders of lawyer Mathew Kyalo Mbobu and doctor Victoria Nthunya Mutiso, killed a year apart, according to Kenya’s Directorate of Criminal Investigations.
Kenya’s Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) arrested police inspector Kenneth Kipkemboi Sang on Saturday 24 October, suspected of coordinating operations that led to the murders of Nairobi lawyer Mathew Kyalo Mbobu and doctor Victoria Nthunya Mutiso. He was arrested in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County, while driving a silver Toyota Fielder, according to a DCI statement.
Police said the arrest followed information provided by the public. Kenneth Sang, who had been hiding for several months, was reportedly found while trying to sell his vehicle to support himself, according to the DCI. He was the last suspect still at large in the two investigations.
Doctor Victoria Mutiso was shot dead on 29 July 2026 in the Upper Hill neighbourhood of Nairobi. Lawyer Kyalo Mbobu was killed on 9 September 2025 on the Magadi road while returning from work. The DCI recently established a link between the two cases and is seeking to determine whether other people were involved in the killings.
The arrest comes after five suspects were charged over the murder of a Nairobi lawyer, announced on 8 October.
