Kenya’s Ministry of Education has relocated two national secondary-school examination centres in Moyale, Marsabit County, after clan clashes near the Ethiopian border. The move affects the 2026 KCSE session, taken by 1,048,355 candidates at 10,693 centres, according to minister Julius Migos Ogamba.
Kenya’s Ministry of Education has relocated two examination centres in the Moyale sub-county of Marsabit County because of insecurity caused by clashes between clans near the border with Ethiopia. The measure is intended to protect candidates and staff during the 2026 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams, according to Education Minister Julius Migos Ogamba.
The ministry has also made arrangements for seven candidates in hospital and five held in correctional facilities to sit their exams. The examinations involve 1,048,355 candidates across 10,693 centres nationwide, Ogamba said.
The exams began with optional subjects; compulsory papers, taken by the largest number of candidates, started on 2 November. Ogamba urged the public to report suspected cheating to the Kenya National Examinations Council through its toll-free numbers.
