Yashar, led by Gadi Eisenkot, invited Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud members on Saturday to join a future government led by Eisenkot. The move comes before Isaac Herzog announces the government-former, expected on Sunday, according to AFP.

Israeli party Yashar on Saturday called on Likud MPs, the party of outgoing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, to break with their allies and join a government led by Gadi Eisenkot, according to AFP. Yashar invited Likud members who support a “broad government” to publicly announce their support for Eisenkot.

Benjamin Netanyahu, for his part, warned that a coalition bringing together the opposition bloc and Arab parties would, in his view, lead to the collapse of the State of Israel, AFP reports. President Isaac Herzog is due to announce on Sunday the name of the person tasked with forming the next government.

Yashar’s call comes after the support of the Israeli opposition for Eisenkot, announced on 3 November, followed by the consultations launched by Herzog on 4 November.
