Guinea’s Sports Minister Cellou Baldé has urged the 53 statutory members of the Guinean Football Federation to end the institutional crises that have affected the body over the past decade. Speaking at its elective congress, he presented the vote as an opportunity to restore stability and credibility to national football, Visionguinee reports.
Guinea’s Sports Minister Cellou Baldé has called on football stakeholders to end the institutional crises that have marked the Guinean Football Federation (Féguifoot) over the past 10 years. He was speaking at the federation’s elective congress, before the 53 statutory members eligible to vote, according to Visionguinee.
Cellou Baldé said the ministry would remain neutral in the vote and that its requirements would apply regardless of which candidate was elected. He cited federation stability, credible governance, an effective administration, transparent management and measurable results.
The minister said the congress should go beyond choosing a president and open a new phase for Guinean football. He referred in particular to internal divisions which, he said, had diverted resources from the needs of young players, clubs and supporters.
