GoldBod, Ghana’s gold-trading body, sold US$1.011 billion to commercial banks in October through its artisanal gold operations. The institution plans to raise a further US$1.2 billion in November, including US$800 million to support the foreign exchange market, according to MyJoyOnline.

The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) sold US$1.011 billion in foreign exchange to authorised commercial banks in October 2026, generated from its purchases and sales of gold from artisanal and small-scale mines. The organisation announced the amount on Monday, 2 November, according to MyJoyOnline.

GoldBod expects to generate US$1.2 billion in foreign exchange from these operations in November. Of this amount, US$800 million is expected to be made available to commercial banks to support stability in the foreign exchange market, through the GoldBod GoFX platform and under its approved framework for foreign exchange sales and intermediation.

The organisation says these operations also contribute to the accumulation of Ghana’s foreign exchange reserves by the Bank of Ghana under the Ghana Accelerated National Reserve Accumulation Policy (GANRAP). This new injection comes after the US$130 million injected by GoldBod to support the cedi, announced on 28 October 2026.
