The Importers and Exporters Association of Ghana (IEAG) has called on Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson to convene an emergency meeting on persistent delays at the port of Tema. In a statement published on 19 October and signed by its executive secretary, Samson Asaki Awingobit, the association said disruptions to port services were increasing operators’ financial losses.

The IEAG cited delays in billing, payment processing and the release of containers, as well as disruptions at Meridian Port Services’ Terminal 3. It said these difficulties were increasing costs for importers, exporters, freight forwarders, customs agents and transporters.

The Finance Minister consulted industrialists on 30 September as part of preparations for the 2027 budget, according to the report of his consultations with industrialists.
