The guitar used by George Michael in the “Faith” video is among 32 items auctioned by Sworders. The brother of Siobhan Bailey, the singer’s former assistant who died in 2014, is contesting the sale organised by her heir husband, according to the BBC.
The guitar used by George Michael in the video for “Faith” is among 32 lots of the singer’s memorabilia auctioned by Sworders on Thursday, along with signed photographs of George Michael and Wham!. The items come from the collection of Siobhan Bailey, his personal assistant for 20 years, according to the BBC, cited by MyJoyOnline.
The sale pits Siobhan Bailey’s family against her estranged husband, Ian Belcher, who legally inherited her possessions after her death in 2014. Siobhan’s brother, Gerard Bailey, says she would have been horrified by the sale and is calling for it to be cancelled or organised in Mr Belcher’s name rather than hers.
Siobhan Bailey was in the process of divorcing when she died, but was still married and had not left a registered will. Her brother maintains that a draft will would have provided for the items to be passed to her nieces and nephews, reports the BBC. Sworders and Ian Belcher declined to comment.
