Tourism ministers from the East African Community have adopted a tourism marketing strategy for 2027-2036 to present the region as a single destination. The plan includes digital campaigns and cross-border offers and aims to use the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations to attract visitors across the Community, according to Daily News.

The ministers responsible for Tourism and Wildlife Management in the East African Community (EAC) have adopted a tourism marketing strategy for 2027-2036, according to the daily *Daily News*. The plan aims to promote East Africa as a single, competitive tourist destination under the regional brand “Visit East Africa: Feel the Vibe”.

The strategy focuses on digital marketing, partnerships and cross-border tourism offers highlighting the region’s natural and cultural heritage. The ministers also pledged to take advantage of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, hosted by three countries in the region, to attract visitors and extend tourism benefits across the EAC.

The decisions were taken at the 13th meeting of the Sectoral Council on Tourism and Wildlife Management, recently concluded at the EAC headquarters in Arusha, Tanzania. Uganda’s Minister of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities, Tom Butime, who chaired the meeting, called for faster cross-border conservation, the harmonisation of tourism grading standards and improved statistics through the regional tourism barometer. He also cited the implementation of the single tourist visa and the facilitation of travel between countries.

Tom Butime also called for an environment conducive to private investment, funding for viable regional tourism projects and mechanisms to monitor results. The meeting brought together ministers, senior officials and representatives of the EAC Secretariat.
