The Central African National Institute for Research and Educational Development presented the Beafrika textbooks in Bangui, designed locally to teach French and arithmetic throughout the Fundamental 1 cycle. The materials are to be distributed to teachers and pupils to adapt learning to the country’s realities, according to the institute’s director-general, Samuel Feïzounam Ouanfio.

The new Central African “Beafrika” textbooks, covering French and arithmetic, span the entire Fundamental 1 cycle. They were presented in Bangui on Monday 26 October by Samuel Feïzounam Ouanfio, director-general of the National Institute for Research and Educational Development (INRAP), Lengosongo reports.

Designed by Central African education officials, the materials take account of the country’s school environment and sociocultural realities. They are to be distributed in schools and gradually replace the previous textbooks for these subjects, Samuel Feïzounam Ouanfio said. The INRAP official said their circulation aims to improve the quality of teaching and provide teachers and pupils with tools adapted to the Central African context.
