Mamelodi Sundowns defender Mothobi Mvala has returned to competitive football after a serious knee injury and has already completed four matches without incident. His return comes ahead of the CAF Super Cup final against USM Alger, according to TimesLIVE.

South African defender Mothobi Mvala has played four official matches without another injury since returning from a serious knee injury. Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso is expected to rely on him in central defence against USM Alger in the CAF Super Cup, according to TimesLIVE.

Mvala said he had doubted whether he would be able to play again after his first operation and gradually regained his confidence with support from Sundowns' medical team. In particular, he watched documentaries about players who had suffered similar injuries, including Canada international Alphonso Davies, a Bayern Munich defender.

The player said his fear of returning to challenges had diminished after the first training sessions and initial contact. His return comes as Cardoso has to cope with the absences of Grant Kekana and Keanu Cupido, according to TimesLIVE.
