Former US President Barack Obama called on voters to punish Donald Trump’s administration in the 3 November midterm elections. Campaigning for the Democrats in Ohio and Michigan, he described the vote as the last opportunity to limit the government’s actions, MyJoyOnline reports.
In Cleveland, Barack Obama denounced “two years of chaos, cruelty, corruption and incompetence” and accused Donald Trump of being responsible for the rising cost of living. The Republican president was defending his immigration and tariff policies at a rally in Georgia at the same time, promising in particular a payment of 5,000 dollars to every American adult if Republicans win both chambers of Congress.
The election will determine which party controls Congress for the remainder of the presidential term and will influence Donald Trump’s ability to implement his programme. Early voting has already begun and the US president voted in Florida on Saturday with his wife Melania Trump. This intervention extends the criticism of the cost of living made by Barack Obama against Donald Trump, published on 25 October.
