Former US president Barack Obama accused Donald Trump on Saturday of worsening the cost of living and criticised his administration’s handling during rallies in Ohio and Michigan, Citizen reports. He called on voters to support Democratic candidates in the 3 November midterm elections, as Republicans currently control both chambers of Congress.
In Cleveland, Barack Obama accused the US president of making “a series of bad decisions”, including, he said, launching an unnecessary war. He also denounced “two years of chaos, cruelty, corruption and incompetence” and urged voters to vote for change. Rising fuel prices are among voters’ main concerns.
In Michigan, the former president backed Abdul El-Sayed, the Democratic Senate candidate running against Republican Mike Rogers. He also asked voters to vote early, as early voting was already open in both states. In Ohio, former Democratic senator Sherrod Brown is trying to regain his seat against Republican Jon Husted, while the governor’s race pits Amy Acton against Vivek Ramaswamy.
