An order by Dakar governor Ousmane Kane reserves a lane on the Autoroute de l’Avenir for traffic related to the 2026 YOG, with set hours between Dakar, Diamniadio and Blaise Diagne International Airport. Access to the exit leading to Abdoulaye-Wade Stadium is also restricted to authorised vehicles on opening ceremony day, 31 October, reports Senego.
Dakar regional governor Ousmane Kane has reserved the left-hand lane of the Autoroute de l’Avenir for vehicles accredited for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games (YOG), according to an order reported by Senego. The measure will apply on the stretch between Patte-d’Oie and Blaise Diagne International Airport, from 7am to 7pm in the Dakar-Diamniadio direction and from 7pm to 11.30pm in the opposite direction.
The order also bars unauthorised members of the public from using exit 11, which serves Abdoulaye-Wade Stadium, from 7am to 11.30pm. Only vehicles displaying an official sticker from the YOG Organising Committee (COJOJ) will be allowed to access it. In the security perimeters of Diamniadio, only accredited vehicles and Games shuttle buses will be admitted; spectators must use the shuttles or designated pedestrian routes.
Exits 10 and 12 will remain open to general traffic. Drivers coming from Dakar can use them to reach the stadium via the overpass at Diamniadio’s Regional Express Train station; those coming from other regions must use exit 12 and National Road 2. Drivers not heading to the ceremony must stay in the far-right lanes.
Trucks weighing more than 3.5 tonnes will be banned from several routes, except where exemptions are granted for local deliveries: the toll motorway between Patte-d’Oie and Sébikhotane from 7am to 11.30pm, the bridge between Rufisque and Keur Ndiaye Lô from 7am to 7pm, and RN1 between Rufisque and Sébikhotane from 3pm to 7pm. These restrictions flesh out the YOG mobility plan approved by the authorities in Thiès on 10 October. The opening ceremony is scheduled for 31 October at Abdoulaye-Wade Stadium.
