Fred Vasseur, director of Scuderia Ferrari, brought Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc together after their duel at the Mexican Grand Prix. The talks focused on tensions that had built up between the two drivers ahead of the São Paulo Grand Prix, according to Vasseur's statements at a press conference.
Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur brought drivers Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc together to discuss their duel at the Mexico City Grand Prix, ahead of the São Paulo Formula 1 Grand Prix. The meeting took place the day before the team representatives' conference, where Vasseur confirmed that the talks had gone well, according to IOL.
Vasseur explained that repeated incidents between the two drivers had created a build-up of frustration. He asked them to respect each other while reminding them that the interests of Ferrari, its employees and its supporters had to remain the priority.
The Mexico duel prevented Ferrari from retaining the two potential top positions at the finish. Hamilton finished second, behind Max Verstappen, while Leclerc finished fourth after receiving a five-second penalty for cutting the track.
The meeting comes after Hamilton said he would not apologise after his clash with Leclerc in Mexico, announced on 6 November.
