The fifth edition of the Forum on Trade and Investment between the United Kingdom and French-speaking West and Central Africa opened on 20 October 2026 in Conakry, for two days devoted to turning projects into reality and investment in several sectors. The meeting is being organised by Guinea’s Ministry of Planning, Development and International Cooperation, reports Africaguinée.
At the opening, Guinean Prime Minister Amadou Oury Bah called on international partners to invest in energy, infrastructure, agriculture, technology and vocational training. He also called for greater participation by Guinean companies in major projects, in order to increase the added value produced in the country and the number of jobs created.
Planning Minister Ismaël Nabé said investment opportunities extended beyond the mining sector and cited logistics, agro-industry, digital technology and urban development in particular. He invited participants to identify partners, mobilise financing and define concrete actions during the two days of discussions.
The forum is part of a series of discussions and commitments concerning Guinea’s infrastructure. On 15 October, Conakry announced talks with the African Development Bank on three deep-water port projects. On 20 October, UK Export Finance signed a $2 billion commitment for Guinean projects.
