A Ukrainian drone attack again halted arrivals and departures at all four Moscow airports, with 147 delays and 31 cancellations recorded. Repeated disruptions are complicating the resumption of airlines’ schedules, according to flight-tracking data cited in the report.
Moscow’s four airports suspended arrivals and departures on 23 October during a Ukrainian drone attack, according to Zambian media outlet Zambianobserver. At 14:31 local time, 147 flights had been delayed and 31 cancelled at Sheremetyevo, Vnukovo, Domodedovo and Zhukovsky, according to flight-tracking data cited by the outlet.
Images circulated online appeared to show drone debris at Sheremetyevo. Russian media also reported an air-raid alert and passengers being directed to shelters at the airport.
Disruptions had recurred during the week: more than 350 flights were delayed or cancelled on 17 October, and more than 220 others were affected on 22 October, according to figures reported by Zambianobserver. These totals relate to separate periods.
Diversions, crew movements and missed connections can prolong delays after restrictions are lifted, the outlet reports. On 22 October, Russia also fired 21 missiles at Kyiv while Ukraine launched 630 drones, according to our article on the 22 October strikes and drones.
