Tunisia’s net foreign-exchange assets stood at 24,022 million dinars on 21 October 2026, equivalent to 92 days of imports of goods and services, according to data published by the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT).
This level corresponds to the minimum generally required for a country to move beyond the critical threshold of vulnerability to a possible balance-of-payments crisis, according to the criteria of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The comfort level is nevertheless considered to be between four and six months of imports, providing a buffer against an external shock such as a rise in commodity prices or a fall in exports.
This development comes after Tunisia allocated 150 million dinars to support the olive-oil sector, announced on 23 October. The measure is presented in the financing of the olive-oil sector.
