Trump refuses to disclose talks with Musk on Ukraine

Donald Trump refuses to reveal the content of his private exchanges with Elon Musk about the war in Ukraine, despite journalists’ requests. The position comes as the use of Starlink and Starshield by Ukrainian forces raises questions, reports the Zambian Observer.

Donald Trump confirmed that he had spoken to Elon Musk about the war in Ukraine, but refused to reveal the content of their exchange when journalists questioned him about it, reports Zambian media outlet Zambianobserver. “No, I can’t,” the US president replied before ending the exchange.

The discussions come as Musk’s services in Ukraine face criticism. Starlink, the American entrepreneur’s commercial network, is intended for civilian and defensive uses, while Starshield, his military system controlled by the US government, is used by Ukrainian forces. Decisions concerning Starshield fall to the US military and the president, according to Zambianobserver.

This latest position comes after the persistent Starlink restrictions in Ukraine, reported on 23 October. It also follows Elon Musk’s threat to cut off Starlink in Ukraine, published on 25 October.
