TACV shareholders denounce governance vacuum
By the AFREEQUE newsroom, based on Anacao

TACV’s private shareholders denounce irregularities after a general meeting failed to elect a new board of directors for the Cape Verdean airline. They object in particular to the removal of the incumbent team without successors being appointed and warn of the risk of a governance vacuum, according to their statement.
Private shareholders in TACV, the Cape Verdean public airline, accuse the Cape Verdean state and the Public Enterprise Sector Monitoring Unit (UASE) of causing the deadlock at the general meeting on 16 October. The meeting ended without the election of the new board of directors, which was to be chaired by Mário Almeida, according to a statement from the private shareholders.
The shareholders denounce, in particular, the failure to provide information on candidates for the governing bodies in time and an attempt to circumvent TACV’s statutes. They say these irregularities prevented the appointment of a new team to lead the airline.
