Socfinaf reduced its asset acquisitions in Cameroon by 22% in 2025 to €14.86 million and recorded a €1.2 million impairment on its biological assets. Despite the decline, the country remained its leading investment destination in Africa, according to the group’s annual report reviewed by Investir au Cameroun.
Socfinaf, the Luxembourg-based agro-industrial group present in Cameroon through Socapalm and Safacam, recorded €14.86 million in asset acquisitions in the country in 2025, equivalent to about CFA francs 9.75 billion. This represents a 22% year-on-year decline, according to geographical data from its 2025 annual report reviewed by Investir au Cameroun.
The decline mainly concerns property, plant and equipment, including facilities and equipment, with acquisitions falling from €15.43 million to €10.66 million, a 30.9% decrease. By contrast, capitalised spending on biological assets rose by 15.9% to €4.20 million, from €3.63 million in 2024, according to Socfinaf’s report.
Socfinaf also recorded an impairment of about €1.2 million, or nearly CFA francs 800 million, on its Cameroonian biological assets. The group said it had identified indications of impairment following further assessments, an accounting adjustment that does not directly constitute a cash outflow.
Despite the decline in acquisitions, Cameroon remained Socfinaf’s leading investment country in Africa in 2025. It accounted for 29.7% of the group’s €50.01 million in acquisitions, ahead of Nigeria, at €11.56 million, and Ivory Coast, at €11.34 million, according to the annual report’s figures.
