Sissi confirms Egypt is diversifying its partnerships

Egyptian MP Ramadan Bati’a sees President Abdel Fattah al-Sissi’s participation in the 18th BRICS summit as confirmation of active economic diplomacy. He believes this presence reflects Egypt’s desire to diversify its international partnerships, according to Egyptian daily Al-Youm al-Sabea.

Egyptian MP Ramadan Bati’a said President Abdel Fattah al-Sissi’s participation in the 18th BRICS summit, a group of major emerging economies held in New Delhi, confirms Egypt’s diversification of its international partnerships and its openness to expanding economic blocs.

Sissi’s discussions with Russian leaders on the sidelines of the summit are expected to help accelerate several development projects, including the El-Dabaa nuclear power plant and the Russian industrial zone in the Suez Canal corridor. Ramadan Bati’a believes these projects could encourage technology transfer and the localisation of industrial production in Egypt. Sissi’s participation in the BRICS summit is part of this diversification strategy, according to the MP.
