Racist attack in France’s Yvelines leaves six victims

The attack described as a racist terrorist attack in Yvelines left six victims, including one man killed and a 12-year-old girl seriously injured. Emmanuel Macron called for unity in Trappes and praised the police response, according to a statement reported by Bamada.net.

French President Emmanuel Macron said on Friday that the racist terrorist attack in Yvelines had left six victims, including a 12-year-old girl who was seriously injured. He said in Trappes that the victims had been targeted because of their skin colour or presumed religion.

According to Emmanuel Macron, a man was killed in the morning by a fellow countryman driven by a racist ideology. The president praised the intervention of the anti-crime brigade, which reportedly enabled the attacker to be neutralised and prevented further victims, as well as the mobilisation of the National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor’s Office.

The statement came after an investigation was opened by the National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor’s Office, announced on 23 October. It also followed comments by the mayor of Trappes, who described the attack as Islamophobic on the same day.
