Vladimir Putin says modern agricultural technologies can enable African countries to meet their needs and become major exporters. At the Russia-Africa summit in Moscow, the Russian president proposed sharing expertise and making joint investments in livestock, crops, processing and storage.
Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed sharing agricultural technologies with African countries to increase their production and develop their exports. He made the offer during the plenary session of the third Russia-Africa summit in Moscow on 29 October, according to the Fanamc news agency.
Putin cited crops, livestock, processing and storage among the possible areas of cooperation. He also said that Russia had supplied Africa with more than 18 million tonnes of grain in 2025, followed by 13 million tonnes during the first nine months of 2026. Its fertiliser exports to the continent reached about 1.5 million tonnes in 2025 and exceeded 2.2 million tonnes in 2026 at the time of his remarks.
The proposal forms part of the summit’s discussions on relations between Moscow and African countries. On 29 October, Putin also defended a partnership based on self-reliance.
